At 22, Alec Regula already boasts an impressive record, having appeared in 108 career games for the Rockford IceHogs.
This 6-foot-4 powerhouse from West Bloomfield, Michigan, has played in 22 career NHL games with the Blackhawks and brings a solid performance history to the Bruins’ defense.
24-year-old Ian Mitchell also makes the cut, bringing his own pedigree of experience.
After playing in 82 NHL games for the Blackhawks and 67 for the IceHogs, Mitchell has tallied up four goals and 12 assists in the NHL, and 13 goals and 29 assists in the AHL, through three seasons.
Interestingly, Mitchell has a connection with Bruins’ head coach Jim Montgomery, who recruited and coached him for a season at the University of Denver.
While the Bruins might view this trade primarily as a chance to free up cap space, the addition of Regula and Mitchell could extend the depth chart for the Bruins, offering them the flexibility they need in case of injury or subpar performance next season.
