Newsom’s commentary follows the emergence of No Labels, a political unit focused on advancing bipartisanship and centrism. Democrats, in particular, have raised issue with No Labels’ prospective involvement in the 2024 election scene.

The organization is still potentially considering several ticket options in this year’s race. At least one of them is rumored to be a split ticket with one Republican and one Democrat.

Despite Newsom’s views about No Labels, he cautioned against concerted efforts to shut the group down or keep it off the ballot. The California governor also stated after reviewing what No Labels claims to stand for, he believes much of its agenda is already active in the Biden-Harris White House.
