As part of the agreement reached following complaints from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), Care.com was required to pay a $ 8.5 million settlement. It was said that the company insisted into the pockets of carers false information about what work is available and how much money can be made whereas at one end it made extremely hard for a person to cancel his subscription care agreement.

Thus the FTC held that Care.com made excessive claims regarding job listings and pay rates After these were exposed as untrue there were users who felt they had been cheated into obtaining membership without reason being given. According to the FTC, the company created unnecessary difficulties for both job seekers and users of its platform in the matter canceling paid memberships. In contrast with more favorable terms i.e. on platforms outside Care.com

Under the terms of the agreement, Care.com will reimburse victims and the firm must provide evidence for any future job but uery in earnings. Also, Care has agreed to simplify their procedures for cancelling subscriptions and explain how communications work on there--in other words do both before taking money from its customers

The order, noted FTC Bureau of Consumer Protection Director Samuel Levine, ensures an honest marketplace for those care providers and families.
