The Columbine shooter explained why in the following statements to Fox News:
“I went to hear Beto speak and I got the opportunity to ask him where he drew the line as far as his gun confiscation plans — and I wanted to phrase it in a way that allowed him to speak his mind and he did. He really is open to banning and confiscating nearly all firearms.”
See the moment in which Todd questioned O’Rourke and carefully phrased his words:
And there was this emotional moment. A Columbine survivor, Evan Todd, asked Beto to include all semi-automatic weapons in his proposed ban.

Todd also noted that members of the press expressed irritation upon learning his true stance on mandatory buybacks:
“Many were very interested in talking to me afterward; but, when they found out my true stance, they suddenly were less interested. So it’s been crickets since they found out where I truly stood on the issue.”
Backlash Against O’Rourke
Beto O’Rourke continues to face backlash since vowing to seize the guns of lawful Americans. Conservatives have proceeded to question how taking the AR-15s and AK-47s of law-abiding people will halt criminals with no regard for the law…or for mandatory buyback programs.
