In addition, the Senate Majority Leader emphasized that the budget agreement “represents a significant, bipartisan step forward.” He encouraged his fellow senators to review the legislation and support it.
Furthermore, Sen. McConnell assured his colleagues that he will fulfill his promise regarding immigration. According to him, “Our upcoming debate on DACA, border security, and other issues will be a process that is fair to all sides. The bill I move to, which will not have underlying immigration text, will have an amendment process that will ensure a level playing field at the outset.”
A win for American people
On the other hand, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said, “After months of legislative logjams, this budget deal is a genuine breakthrough. After months of fiscal brinksmanship, this budget deal is the first real sprout of bipartisanship.”
In a series of tweets, Schumer also stated that the Congress did its job while President Donald Trump threatens shutdowns and stalemates. The deal is a win for the American people.
While @POTUS threatens shutdowns & stalemates, Congress has done the hard work of finding compromise & consensus. We have reached a budget deal that neither side loves but both sides can be proud of. That’s compromise. That’s governing. We should do more of it.

The budget deal is a win for the American people. It will do so much good for our military, for so many middle-class Americans, and finally consign the arbitrary and pointless sequester caps to the ash heap of history. pic.twitter.com/5AkwxOTUz6

This budget deal also includes long-awaited disaster relief for TX, LA, FL, Puerto Rico & the USVI. This recovery aid could not come a moment too soon. @SenBillNelson worked so hard for both Florida & Puerto Rico relief, as did so many others in our caucus.

This deal increases funding for community health centers, which serve over 26.5 million Americans. @PattyMurray @SenatorTester & @SenSanders & many others have been champions for these community health centers, & their work got this done. pic.twitter.com/16jUZMnBrI
