Democratic leaders on meeting with Trump on infrastructure

Democratic congressional leaders reached an agreement with President Donald Trump on a massive investment to build the country’s infrastructure—$2 trillion.

On Tuesday, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer had a meeting with Trump at the White House regarding infrastructure.

According to Pelosi and Schumer, they had a “very productive” and a “very constructive” meeting with the President. It is a surprising development since Democrats and Republicans in Washington are in the middle of an intense fight over many issues particularly the congressional investigations into Trump’s possible obstruction of justice.

Building America’s infrastructure not a partisan issues

During a press conference after the meeting, Pelosi said Trump agreed to advance a “big and bold” infrastructure agenda. She added, Building the infrastructure of America has never been a partisan issue and we hope to go forward in a very nonpartisan way for the future.”

On the other hand, Schumer said they all agree that “infrastructure is crucial to the future of America” because it creates jobs and makes the country competitive.”
