The newly-elected congresswoman previously criticized the GOP for initiating a vote on the Green New Deal. Many Americans questioned the outrage; some argued that if Democrats truly believed in the feasibility of the Green New Deal, they ought to have no issue with voting on it.

President Trump has previously stated that the Green New Deal is “preposterous” and will be “easy to beat” in the upcoming 2020 election.

The Green New Deal may have a pin in it, but it’s far from dead. While Democrats are going to push for other climate change initiatives, they will largely include some of the Green New Deal’s components.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez served as the strongest proponent and initiator of the Green New Deal. The congresswoman frequently takes heat from Republicans and conservatives for questionable statements and controversial proposals.

As the American people have seen, the Green New Deal faced a similar response. The proposal engendered backlash for supporting the provision of economic aid to individuals who are “unwilling” to work along with the eradication of gas-fueled cars and air travel.
