Right now, Congress has until February 15, 2019 to put forth legislation which is acceptable; the president has reiterated, on multiple occasions, that funding for a wall is absolutely paramount for border security. Moreover, Trump maintains that he will not accept anything less.
The government shut down last year because President Trump and Democratic leaders failed to reach a resolution on a bill to keep government open. Even after the shutdown, Democrats still remain strongly against a border wall.
Trump supporters and other Americans on the right have accused Democrats of having political motivations for opposing Trump’s wall. Conservatives also overwhelmingly believe that the left-wing benefits from the unlawful votes of illegal immigrants.
Only time will tell what happens with legislation for border wall funding; although, February 15th gets closer and closer with each passing day. President Trump has also publically discussed declaring a national emergency in order to build the physical barrier along the Southern border.
