The Florida governor received ten endorsements from South Carolina state representatives and municipal officials who previously supported Scott. State Rep. Tom Hartnett Jr., for instance, heralded DeSantis as a much-needed leader capable of reversing decline in the United States and delivering conservative victories.
What’s next for DeSantis?
While the Florida governor continues making various campaign stops, voters can also expect to see him at the fourth GOP primary debate.
This will take place on Wednesday, December 6, with NewsNation hosting. Expected to join DeSantis on the debate stage are fellow contenders Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, and Vivek Ramaswamy.
Days before the next GOP debate, however, DeSantis will also be participating in a one-on-one debate against California Gov. Gavin Newsom.
With Newsom widely expected to be a possible 2024 Democratic contender (and in light of Newsom’s criticisms of DeSantis, coupled with his insistence on debating DeSantis), this particular event comes with much anticipation.
