Kreis said the evidence, if presented to a jury, could have been strong:
“There would have been a very, very strong case that these co-defendants may have very well been guilty of the crimes alleged.”
Still, Skandalakis suggested federal courts might be the more appropriate venue for election-interference cases, though Kreis countered that states play a critical role in safeguarding elections.

Defense attorney Ashleigh Merchant, who helped expose the conflict-of-interest allegations, said the decision reinforces public trust.
“The entire world has been watching this case… the American system of justice can be fair and do the right thing,” she said.
As for Donald Trump, the collapse of the Georgia RICO Case joins a series of dropped investigations as he continues appealing remaining charges elsewhere.
