For months, members of the Congress have been frustrated with Facebook’s lack of control over the spread of Fake news, Russian meddling in the elections, and other misuse of its platform.
During the hearing, Zuckerberg told lawmakers that he welcomes “right regulation” on social media. His company is willing to submit regulatory proposals to the Congress.
Last week, he expressed support for the Honest Ads Act, a legislation that requires disclosures for online political ads. In fact, the social network giant is already implementing a verification process for advertisers seeking to run political ads on its platform. Facebook is also requiring advertisers to label political ads and disclose who paid for them.
