The Factor of Age and 2020 Democrat Candidates

Joe Biden is currently 76 years old. Bernie Sanders is 77 years old. Despite being the oldest Democrat who hopes to take on President Trump in 2020, Sanders maintains the strongest support amongst younger voters.

What Issues will the Democrats Face in 2020?

At this time, there is a sizeable pool of prospective contenders to challenge President Trump in 2020. However, the Democrat Party will likely face certain issues in the upcoming election which do not pertain to age. One of those issues will involve appealing to voters in the general election.

Over the past year, Democrats have advocated for a series of controversial policies. The policies in question include, but are certainly not limited to, abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), ending private healthcare, and enstating the Green New Deal. These are reforms which many Americans regard as extremely far left. Even certain moderate-leaning Democrats have expressed reservations about the Green New Deal.

One of the Democrat contenders will inevitably win the nomination to represent their party in 2020. However, winning a primary election is very different from winning a general election. Conservatives have regularly asserted that the far left proposals from Democrats are not indicative of what most Americans want.
