Mexico and Canada also responded very quickly. Canada is currently the largest supplier of steel to the U.S. They will impose taxes covering $12.8 billion on U.S. imports. This will include orange juice, aluminum, steel, whiskey, and other products.

The European Union is planning measures that will hit U.S. exports for many things. They’ll raise taxes on products ranging from big motorcycle company Harley-Davidsons to manicure and pedicure preparations to canoes to washbasins to stainless steel sinks.

Cecilia Malmstrom is the European Union Trade Commissioner. He said that the E.U. is determined to protect the multilateral system and that everyone should play by the rules.
