GM has said it will expand Super Cruise to 22 vehicles by 2023. It is reportedly developing a next-generation system, which will be featured in the Cadillac Escalade SUV and the GMC Hummer EV Pickup.
GM’s victory is sure to stick in the craw of Tesla, who has been on a winning streak as of late with excellent earnings for Q3 and Q2. Whether the Super Cruise system’s higher marks will lead to the sale of increasing numbers of GM vehicles remains to be seen.
In general, American auto manufacturing has struggled to meet much of the technologies offered in Japanese vehicles. That said, this certainly is a step in the right direction and paints a picture of a bright future for GM.
