Furthermore, he mentioned that his father, the late Gov. Mario Cuomo, helped save the New York Post when it was in financial trouble.
“Even though the Post represented an opposing active partisan interest, my father understood the value of a robust free press,” Cuomo said. “So do I.”
On the other hand, Tronc explained in a statement to CNBC that it is transforming into a “truly digitally focused enterprise.” The media company wants to create “meaningful journalism, deliver stories faster and to develop new strategies to engage its readers.”
Tronc said it is also “working diligently to confront the realities” of the media industry. One of these is the “significant cost increases associated with the tariffs recently placed on newsprint.”
