Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi's former spouse, Hiba Abouk, was left with no share of his wealth after discovering that the Paris Saint-Germain star had registered all his assets under his mother's name. During the couple's ongoing divorce proceedings, Abouk sought half of Hakimi's fortune, only to find that he had no assets in his name.

According to reports, Hakimi, who earns more than $215,000 per week as the sixth highest-paid African footballer, placed 80% of his wealth, including properties, cars, clothes, jewelry, and millions in salary, under his mother's control. This revelation emerged during the divorce process initiated by Abouk in March 2023.

The couple met in 2018 and married in 2020 and have two children together. Abouk's decision to file for divorce came after Hakimi faced preliminary rape charges following a 24-year-old woman's allegations in February. The alleged victim informed the police but did not pursue an official complaint. Last month, Abouk publicly addressed the rape allegations for the first time, expressing her support for victims and revealing her decision to separate from Hakimi prior to the indictment without providing specific reasons.

Hakimi's strategy of registering his assets under his mother's name has triggered a worldwide discussion, with some commending his foresight in safeguarding his wealth, while others criticize both him and his mother for their actions.

Both Hakimi and his ex-wife have similar backgrounds, with Abouk born in Madrid to Tunisian immigrants. The two met while Hakimi played for Dortmund in Germany, and Abouk rose to fame for her role in the Spanish crime drama El Principe.
