Children may also develop a fear of communicating with others or blame themselves for the actions of their abusive parent. All of the impacts of domestic violence on children are negative and also threaten to color their futures in the absence of necessary changes.

Hope for recovery after domestic violence

In order for children to have the best chances of healthy relationships and good lives later down the line, an escape from domestic violence is the very first step. Next comes support from adults in their lives who can serve as positive forces.

These adults could be older siblings, other relatives, or even counselors and therapists. No matter the individuals, kids need to have constructive outlets where they can express themselves, discuss what they’ve experienced, and heal from the trauma of this abuse.

For all survivors of domestic violence, hope and healing are possible. However, they require a clean break from the abusive situations at hand, coupled with a consistent and healthy support system in the aftermath.
