On Thursday, Ohio Governor and Republican John Kasich criticized President Donald Trump's ability to serve as a "unifier." Kasich also opined that Trump lacks "personal responsibility" skills, according to The Hill.

An Overview of Kasich's Remarks

The Ohio governor spoke out against the current president of the United States during an interview with CNN. Kasich's remarks read as follows:

"He’s not capable of being a unifier. He doesn’t know how to accept personal responsibility and always finds somebody else to blame."

Kasich then accused Trump of purposefully "revving people up." He bemoaned the notion of unstable individuals "doing something crazy" and moreover expressed concerns about "somebody on the edge" who "might do something stupid."

Kasich's latest CNN interview does not mark his first critique of President Trump. Throughout the 2016 election, Kasich ran as a candidate to win the GOP nomination. He frequently sparred with then-candidate Trump and other contenders.

The remarks of Gov. John Kasich come after reports that several prominent Democrats and CNN officials have received bombs in the mail. Barack Obama, the Clintons, Robert DeNiro, Joe Biden, and other established left-wing figures have had potentially dangerous packages intercepted by members of law enforcement.

Over the past few months, political civility in America has taken an increasingly dismal turn. Congressional members and Trump administration officials have faced harassment in restaurants and outside their homes. Likewise, law enforcement officials have made arrests at various protests due to outbreaks of violence and chaos.

As political acrimony intensifies, many Americans are wondering just how far matters will escalate. Furthermore, political figures on both sides of the aisle are weighing in with their thoughts. GOP Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul warned that lives may be lost if political unrest continues on its current trajectory.

Despite Paul's concerns, not all political leaders appear to see matters in the same way. Earlier this month, former Attorney General Eric Holder stated that when Republicans "go low," Democrats ought to "kick them." Likewise, Hillary Clinton openly announced that the left can return to civil conduct following a midterm election victory. Both prominent Democrats faced backlash for their statements regarding the current state of political affairs.
