Concerns about Biden’s age is an issue that both Republicans and Democrats alike have brought up. As the 2024 presidential election continues to play out, this is a matter that the president will inevitably have to face.
Growing talk about age limits for public office
With various politicians, like Sens. Dianne Feinstein, 90, and Mitch McConnell, 81, having concerning public episodes and health complications, more Americans are proposing age limits as necessary measures for our nation’s leaders.
Both congressional chambers and the presidency each have a minimum age that any American must reach before they can run for office. However, no age limit on service in the House, Senate, or White House exists.
Proponents of age limits for public office contend that such guidelines would make sure leaders are most capable of doing their jobs.
Furthermore, there’s an argument which asserts public officeholders should have a stake in the future as they make widespread decisions that will impact future generations.
