Additionally, the former White House strategist said, “Yeah, Mitch, the donors are not happy. They’ve all left you. We’ve cut your oxygen off, Mitch, OK?”

McConnell says his detractors have been defeated repeatedly

On Sunday, Fox News Dana Perino asked McConnell’s reaction on Bannon considering him as his number one enemy. The Senate Majority Leader said Bannon and his allies didn’t help the GOP in the previous elections.

According to McConnell, “With regard to the elements you are referring to, they’ve been out there for a number of years. They cost us five Senate seats in 2010 and 2012. They were able to nominate people who could not win in November.”  Additionally, he pointed out that those people were defeated in 2014 and again in 2016.

Furthermore, McConnell explained, “And that’s what this inter-party skirmish is about. Our goal is to nominate people in the primaries next year who can actually win. The people who win will be the ones who enact the president’s agenda

Moreover, he emphasized, “Look, this is not about personalities. This is about achievement. And in order to make policy, you have to win the election.”
