Most Independents and Democrats Want Biden to Leave the 2024 Election

Within the Democratic Party, Biden’s strongest support comes from older voters and black voters. Progressives, on the other hand, are more likely to want the president to resign and pass the torch to Vice President Harris or a different Democrat.

Of left-wing voters between the ages of 18 and 44, three in four expressed support for Biden ending his candidacy. For months on end, polling has shown Biden’s age and cognitive abilities are concerning to Americans; however, the debate performance from the president in late June inflamed these worries among voters who don’t want a second Trump term.

Who could replace Biden?

Vice President Kamala Harris would naturally be considered as the first person to replace Biden if he stepped down. Michigan Gov. Whitmer and California Gov. Newsom have also been discussed by Americans as potential replacements.

Though as of now, Harris, Whitmer, and Newsom are each standing by the current president. The loudest Democratic voices calling for him to can his run for reelection are ones at the congressional and electorate levels.
