The words of the protesters further muddled the waters, according to Navarro. Declarations branding Trump affiliates and those involved in the Jan. 6 Capitol incident as “terrorists” and demanding their conviction tainted the jury’s perspective at a crucial juncture.

 Silence on Both Sides

While this case has the markings of a courtroom blockbuster, the involved parties are maintaining a studied silence. Both Navarro’s counsel and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Washington, D.C., chose to reserve their comments.

Representing the government are Elizabeth A. Aloi and John Crabb Jr., from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia. Navarro’s corner features heavy hitters John S. Irving of E&W Law, John Rowley of SECIL Law PLLC, and Stan M. Brand alongside Stanley E. Woodward Jr. from Brand Woodward Law LP.
