When pitted against Kennedy Jr. and Williamson, Biden leads overwhelmingly. Nevertheless, the president may not be as solid of a shoo-in as most Americans would assume for an incumbent candidate.
The age factor
One undeniable aspect that stands to work against the president is his age. Right now, Biden is months away from turning 81 and will hence be 86 at the time of the 2028 presidential election.
A poll run by The Associated Press-NORC Center just last month showed a whopping 77% of Americans agree Biden’s too old to operate effectively as president for a second term.
Interestingly enough, this 77% also includes 69% of Democrats. Allies and supporters of the president, nonetheless, continue working to put talk of Biden’s age to rest.
They generally reference what they perceive as Biden’s positive record in office and/or the possibility of a second Trump term as factors that will ultimately persuade Americans to reelect the current president.
At the end of the day, time will reveal if Biden secures the Democrat Party’s nomination and how he fares in the 2024 general election.
