New Year’s Eve Solar Storms to Illuminate Skies with Stunning Auroras

When these magnetic fields collide with our planet’s own, they can lead to power grid surges and interfere with GPS signals. Underwater pipelines and other critical infrastructure may also be affected. As the Sun’s activity continues to peak, we can expect more remarkable solar phenomena, including plasma vortexes, coronal “holes,” and solar “tornadoes.”

For now, the focus remains on the upcoming auroras, a rare and beautiful way to ring in the New Year.
