With endorsements from the likes of New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu and Judge Judy, Nikki Haley is in the 2024 presidential election to win. Some of her latest on-the-ground work includes a town hall event in Iowa and a sit-down with Iowa PBS.
As Haley campaigns in the Hawkeye State ahead of its upcoming caucuses, Sununu is stumping for her in New Hampshire. The Republican governor has repeatedly made clear his view that Haley is the best candidate to not just win the White House, but also effectively lead and connect with the people.
As the GOP presidential candidate’s profile rises, so do attacks against her. During a recent speech, President Biden went after Haley after the latter received flack for not explicitly stating the Civil War was fought over slavery.
In the aftermath of correcting her comment about the Civil War, Haley reminded the president of his own remarks on race and friendships with segregationists.
Reminding Joe Biden of his own past
During a town hall event in Des Moines, Haley dinged Biden for “[palling] around with segregationists.” She also declared that the president’s own history of “racist comments” bar him from giving anyone else lectures about the Civil War, racism, or slavery.
