Throughout her statements, Pelosi noted that Warren and Sanders “own the left.” Right now, in the primary season, many Democrats view this as a good thing; however, they may feel differently if Warren or Sanders wind up facing off against President Trump.
Finally, the House Speaker admitted that she’s not sure what 2020 Democrats are currently thinking.
In Pelosi’s own words:
“As a left-wing San Francisco liberal I can say to these people: What are you thinking? You can ask the left — they’re unhappy with me for not being a socialist.”
Will 2020 Democrats Take Pelosi’s Concerns into Account?
At this point, only time will tell the future actions and behaviors of 2020 Democrats; although, candidates like Warren and Sanders remain convinced that they’re on the right path.
Far-left candidates also have a tendency to refer to their proposals as “bold reform.” While Pelosi advises 2020 Democrats to step back from the Green New Deal and Medicare-for-All, these policies are core parts of Sanders’ and Warren’s campaigns. Thus far, there is no sign that either one of the leading Democrats plans to amend their campaign strategies.
