Additionally, he stated that Verizon should have corrected the problem immediately or suspended the promotion until it was fixed.
“My Bureau of Consumer Protection will stand up and fight for Pennsylvanians and make sure they get an honest deal,” said Shapiro.
The Attorney General accused Verizon of violating the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law. His office is seeking injunctive relief, restitution, civil penalties, and other reasonable relief allowed by law.
Verizon’s response
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the company released a statement indicating that they experienced some technical issues with the promotion, but they worked hard and fixed the problem for affected customers.
In addition, the spokesperson said “We are frankly surprised by the lawsuit. We’ve been engaged in a productive dialogue with Attorney General’s office. Lawsuit or no lawsuit, we will do right by our customers.”
