Perez Hilton was hospitalized Tuesday night after a TikTok livestream appeared to show the celebrity blogger naked, covered in blood and harming himself. Multiple viewers called authorities after watching the disturbing broadcast. Miami-Dade deputies responded to his home and used crisis-intervention techniques before Fire Rescue took him to a local hospital.

Hilton’s family and team later confirmed that he remained under medical care. Authorities described the incident as a mental-health crisis involving self-harm, but they have not publicly classified it as a suicide attempt. Hilton’s family has not disclosed his condition, injuries or expected recovery time.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls Tuesday, Aug. 4, about someone livestreaming acts of self-harm. Deputies went to Hilton’s home in Miami and spoke with family members at the scene. They determined that Hilton remained alone inside the residence and posed no immediate threat to anyone else.

Concerned viewers played a critical role in the emergency response. They reported the livestream while it remained active, giving authorities an opportunity to intervene. The sheriff’s office has not disclosed how many people called or how responders confirmed the address.

Several major news organizations independently reported that the livestream appeared to show Hilton naked and covered in blood. The footage also showed him harming himself while visibly distressed. USA Herald will not embed, link to or provide graphic descriptions of the video.

The sheriff’s office initially discussed the response without publicly naming Hilton. Authorities later confirmed that the person involved was the celebrity blogger, whose legal name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr. Officials have not released details about the extent of his injuries.

Deputies Used Time and Distance

Deputies chose a de-escalation strategy after learning that Hilton remained alone inside the home. The department called the approach a “tactical disengagement.” Officers created time and distance while continuing to monitor the situation and look for a safer way to reach him.

The sheriff’s office said deputies often slow their response when someone experiences a mental-health crisis but poses no immediate danger to others. That strategy gives crisis teams more time to communicate and can lower the risk of injuries. It can also reduce the possibility of a person provoking a deadly confrontation with law enforcement.

Deputies eventually reached Hilton without a violent confrontation. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue then took him to a local hospital for medical attention. The Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response Unit and licensed mental-health professionals also provided support and resources to his family.

Emergency dispatch audio indicates that the response lasted several hours. The first calls came shortly before 7 p.m., and responders transported Hilton later that night. Authorities have not explained what allowed crisis teams to reach him safely.

Family Confirms Medical Care

Golden Artists Entertainment, which represents Hilton, initially acknowledged the troubling content Tuesday night. His representatives said they had tried to reach him and identified his health and his family’s well-being as their primary concerns. They also urged the public to avoid speculation while authorities handled the crisis.

Hilton’s family and team later confirmed that he continued to receive medical care. They thanked supporters for their messages and asked the public to respect the family’s privacy. The statement said the family would share additional information if and when it could do so.

Perez Hilton was hospitalized months after he experienced another serious medical emergency. Earlier in 2026, Hilton said complications from an ulcer led to sepsis and a lengthy hospital stay. No doctor, relative or representative has connected that earlier illness to Tuesday’s crisis.

Neither Hilton nor his family has explained what led to the livestream. They also have not disclosed a diagnosis, prognosis or treatment plan. Claims about his motivation, mental-health history or long-term condition therefore remain speculation.

TikTok Admits Moderator Error

TikTok told the Los Angeles Times that its automated systems flagged Hilton’s livestream within minutes. However, the company acknowledged that a moderator error delayed its removal. TikTok disputed social-media claims that the original livestream continued for 30 minutes and said it lasted approximately half that time.

Hilton reportedly started additional livestreams after the first broadcast ended. TikTok said it closed those later streams within 90 seconds. The company also alerted law enforcement and banned Hilton’s account.

The admission raises questions about how TikTok handles graphic content during an active mental-health emergency. The incident also adds to broader scrutiny of social-media platforms and mental-health risks. Lawsuits and public criticism have increasingly challenged how technology companies protect users from harmful content.

TikTok’s community guidelines prohibit content that shows, promotes or provides instructions for self-harm. Its moderation process relies on automated detection, human reviewers and reports from users. In this case, the automated system detected the content, but human review failed to remove it immediately.

Users who encounter similar content should report it instead of downloading or reposting it. Sharing graphic footage can expose more people to disturbing material and further violate the privacy of someone experiencing a crisis. If the danger appears immediate and the viewer knows the person’s location, contacting emergency services may help responders intervene.

Officials Have Not Confirmed a Suicide Attempt

Some social-media accounts and entertainment outlets have described the incident as a suicide attempt. Emergency dispatchers also reportedly used language indicating a possible attempt while coordinating the response. However, dispatch terminology reflects the information available during an emergency and does not establish a person’s intent.

The sheriff’s office has consistently described the incident as a mental-health crisis involving acts of self-harm. Hilton, his relatives and his medical providers have not publicly characterized it as a suicide attempt. Authorities also have not released evidence showing that Hilton intended to end his life.

The verified facts establish that Hilton appeared to harm himself during a livestream and required emergency medical care. They do not establish his intent, diagnosis or present mental state. Accurately reporting that distinction does not minimize the seriousness of what viewers witnessed.

Perez Hilton was hospitalized after authorities received reports of self-harm, and that description remains the most precise account. Until Hilton, his family or authorities provide additional information, reports should avoid turning an unconfirmed conclusion into a fact.

What Remains Unknown After Perez Hilton Was Hospitalized

Hilton’s current medical condition remains the largest unanswered question. His family has confirmed that he is receiving care, but it has not said whether he remains in the hospital. Officials also have not provided information about his injuries or possible release date.

The incident has drawn concern from viewers and people who have followed Hilton’s career. The 48-year-old rose to prominence through his celebrity-gossip website before expanding into television, podcasting and social media. His public profile brought immediate attention to the livestream, but it does not eliminate his right to medical privacy.

The emergency also demonstrated how an online audience can respond during a crisis. Viewers recognized the danger, contacted authorities and helped bring deputies, firefighters and mental-health professionals to the scene. TikTok’s admitted moderation failure, however, allowed graphic footage to reach more people before the platform acted.

For now, Hilton’s family remains focused on his treatment and recovery. Perez Hilton was hospitalized after a public act of self-harm, but his medical condition and intent remain private. Responsible coverage can acknowledge the disturbing reality of the livestream without spreading the footage, speculating about his diagnosis or declaring an unconfirmed suicide attempt.

Ooh my goodness, how terrible. I hope he is okay and that those who saw the footage and need to talk it through with a mental health professional are able to find help quickly. ❤️ A heartbreaking reminder that life can change in an instant, and that we never really know what someone is carrying.
