On Tuesday, President Donald Trump explained that he is not worried about facing impeachment.

A Closer Look at President Trump’s Remarks

The commander-in-chief’s statements came during an interview with Reuters. In essence, Trump stated that there is no merit for him to face impeachment:

“It’s hard to impeach somebody who hasn’t done anything wrong and who’s created the greatest economy in the history of our country. I’m not concerned, no.”

Moreover, the president noted his belief that Americans would “revolt” in the event of impeachment charges brought against him.

A Backstory Behind the Interview

The president’s remarks about impeachment come after several guilty pleas by his former-attorney Michael Cohen. Many of the charges against Cohen pertain to payments which he made to women who allegedly had affairs with Trump prior to his election. Although Cohen is pushing for no prison time, law enforcement claims that the aforementioned payments breached campaign finance laws. On the other hand, President Trump has denied all allegations of affairs with women who received payments.
