This year’s nine-day art and music festival, a perennial favorite among a diverse array of attendees, including tech luminaries like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, found itself at the mercy of nature.

The event organized by the Burning Man Project has been held for over three decades.

On its website, it is described as “a community. A temporary city. A global cultural movement based on 10 practical Principles. At its heart, it’s an opportunity to experiment with connection, engagement, self-expression, and authenticity. It’s an invitation to re-imagine how we want to live in the world and for people to be who they want to be while being curious about and respectful of others.”

Trapped attendees continue to slog through the muddy challenges and uncertain conditions. And some of them have posted photos of the rainbows that are forming over the mud.
