Understanding the demand for AI detection is not hard. There are many cases where schools, businesses, clients, and others want to ensure the content submitted to them actually came from a human being, rather than a machine.
However, false positives in AI can cause serious problems that must be addressed. False positives have the potential to hurt careers, damage students’ academic prospects, and more.
Ironing out these kinks

At this point, ascertaining that AI is here to stay isn’t hard. However, there should be safeguards in place to ensure that AI (or tools used to detect AI) don’t have the opposite impact than intended.
Solutions to these issues will not materialize overnight. However, they deserve long-term consideration as society considers how to adapt to AI’s presence in the world.
