Republican hopeful Ron DeSantis commented on the pending indictment against fellow party member, Donald Trump, stating the reliance on “obscure laws” for prosecution could lead to widespread confusion and skepticism.
DeSantis on The Balance
While speaking on Newsmax’s The Balance, the Florida Governor and potential 2024 Republican nominee, Ron DeSantis, was quizzed by host Eric Bolling about the validity of multiple felony charges leveled against Trump. Specifically, DeSantis was asked if the indictments, especially the one accusing Trump of fabricating business records in New York, were “politically driven”.
DeSantis countered, asserting that under typical circumstances “no one would have been prosecuted” for such allegations, implying the Manhattan District Attorney had a personal agenda against Trump.
Doubting Charges Related to January 6
Regarding a possible indictment over Trump’s involvement in the January 6th insurrection, DeSantis expressed his hopes that such charges won’t materialize. He further voiced his skepticism over the prosecution’s strategies against the convicted rioters thus far.
