Las Vegas police executed a high-stakes raid on Monday night (July 17) concerning the unsolved murder of iconic rapper Tupac Shakur. 

The raid commenced around 10 PM EST, when officers demanded the occupants of the Henderson property exit with their hands raised in a dramatic face-off. 

Tupac's 1996 murder has long been shrouded in mystery. And the theory remains that Tupac’s death was the result of a fierce rivalry between "East Coast" and "West Coast" hip-hop factions.

The gangsta rappers best known at the time were Tupac from Los Angeles and Christopher "Biggie Smalls" Wallace from New York. Both artists tragically fell victim to gangland-style slayings within a mere six months of each other.

The search warrant execution involved a stand-off and a raid. Officers used megaphones to issue commands to the individuals within the property. 

The Associated Press reported that a man and a woman were seen stepping outside the house, surrounded by police vehicles, including cruisers and SWAT teams, with their lights illuminating the scene.

 A neighbor named Don Sansouci described the situation as an intense face-off.

Unsolved murder raid 

The targeted residence belongs to Paula Clemons, the wife of Duane Keith "Keefe D" Davis, a central suspect in Tupac's murder. 

Davis has consistently claimed that his nephew, Orlando Anderson, was responsible for firing the fatal shots that claimed the life of the controversial rap icon. In 2018, the LV Review-Journal revealed that Davis confessed to being involved in the killing after being diagnosed with cancer.

Authorities issued a search warrant for Keefe D’s Henderson home.

The search warrant shows police were looking for “items that tend to show evidence of motive and/or the identity of the perpetrator such as photographs or undeveloped film, insurance policies and letters, address and telephone records, diaries, and other documents…”

It was reported that police took several tablets, an iPhone, and five computers from the home when they executed the warrant on Monday. 

Also taken were USB and hard drives, photographs, “purported marijuana,” along with a copy of “Vibe” magazine about Tupac, and a copy of the book “Compton Street Legends” by Keffe D with Yusuf Jah.

Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson spoke on the matter, expressing a hope for closure in the long-standing investigation. He emphasized the significance of the Tupac Shakur case and the determination of law enforcement to bring justice to the renowned rapper's memory.

It has been 27-years since Tupac was gunned down in Las Vegas. And the hope remains that this new activity in the investigation may finally unravel the truth surrounding the death of a rap legend.
