Elyria police maintain that they called an ambulance to the scene for the baby’s medical attention after releasing the woman from handcuffs. They deny any allegations of chemical exposure or inadequate medical care.
Ongoing Investigations
The mayor of Elyria acknowledges that the footage of the incident reveals many details of the incident. But he emphasizes that it does not address the underlying questions about what led to the warrant itself.
Consequently, an external investigation has been requested to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the issuance of the warrant.
The family contends that the person the police were searching for is a past tenant of a former owner, and they claim to have informed the police on multiple occasions about his absence from the property.
The toddler, Waylon, is reported to be recovering. He is still hospitalized at University Hospitals Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.
An investigation to determine the events leading up to the raid and the subsequent handling of the situation is ongoing.
