For instance, under Manchin’s proposed changes, H.R. 1 would permit voter ID laws, yet allow other forms of documentation, such as a bill for utilities, to be accepted as a form of ID to vote.

Democrats on Manchin’s proposed changes

Interestingly enough, some of the same Democrats who previously vilified voter ID requirements as racist are now in favor of Manchin’s suggested changes.

Liberal activist Stacey Abrams, for instance, claims that she backs what Manchin proposed. On Thursday, Abrams also falsely claimed that Democrats are not opposed to voter ID; however, Abrams herself has previously gone on the record and asserted voter ID requirements as racist.

It appears that Democrats have come to the reality that H.R. 1 will not pass the Senate without some bipartisan support.
