Yet, it’s the cloud of public disapproval hanging over them that’s most intriguing. Both find themselves trapped in a maze of allegations and scrutiny, stemming from the gifts and trips they’ve accepted.

In response, over 100 of his former clerks, along with federal judges, launched a counterattack, defending Justice Thomas’s honor.
