Democrats are set to regain control of the House of Representatives this Thursday. Moreover, the press has reported that House Democrats will move to reopen the government without providing the aforementioned capital for the Southern border. However, the Republican-controlled Senate has also stated that they will not approve any legislation which the president wouldn’t sign.
All things considered, the political standoff pertaining to the border wall is unlikely to subside anytime soon. Neither side is backing down from their demands. Furthermore, the room for middle ground is seemingly nonexistent. At this point, the continuation of the government shutdown into 2019 is a virtual guarantee.
Additional reports regarding the border wall and the status of the government will follow as new developments arise.
