venezuelan gang arrests

Dallas authorities have apprehended three more suspects believed to be part of a Venezuelan gang, accused of violently robbing a woman inside her Northwest Dallas home.

This incident highlights a growing concern about international criminal elements expanding operations into Texas.

The arrests came after an intense hours-long standoff between law enforcement and the suspects near DFW Airport in Irving, Texas, on Thursday.

6 Suspects, 4 Arrests

Three of the men arrested during the standoff were identified as 20-year-old Yean Brayhan Torrealba-Sanabria, 34-year-old Carlos Alberto Martinez-Silva, and 27-year-old Wilmer Jesus Colmenares-Gonzalez.

All three suspects face charges of aggravated robbery in connection with a violent theft that took place on September 21.

Previously, police had already arrested 28-year-old Manuel Hernandez-Hernandez, whose fingerprint was found at the crime scene.

According to court documents, two additional suspects have been named, but they are still at large.

The ongoing investigation by the Dallas Police Department has yet to determine why the victim was targeted. To protect her safety and privacy, her identity has not been disclosed.

Hernandez-Hernandez, after his arrest, admitted to participating in the robbery and provided investigators with the nicknames of his co-conspirators. However, he claimed not to know their full names, as outlined in an arrest affidavit.

Hernandez-Hernandez informed authorities that he had received a Facebook message asking him to meet with a man he knew as "Cuma" at an apartment in Irving.

He allegedly got into a black SUV with four other men and was driven to the Northwest Dallas location.

Violent Robbery

The gang's operation took a sinister turn when the suspects drove to Northwest Dallas and attacked a woman in her driveway. According to the arrest affidavit, Hernandez-Hernandez stayed outside while two of the men entered the home. Once inside, they signaled for the others to join them.

The woman was sitting in her living room and held her at gunpoint. The affidavit reveals that the men used Google Translate to communicate with her, since they did not speak English.

The terrifying ordeal escalated when the suspects struck her on the head with a firearm and threatened to cut off her fingers unless she complied with their demands.

The suspects reportedly threatened the woman and stole valuable property during the attack.

The robbers made off with an estimated $75,000 worth of valuables, including high-end jewelry, a Gucci purse, a Ferragamo handbag, a Judith Leiber handbag, the victim’s phone, and a collection of coins stored in a wooden box.

Fingerprint Evidence

A key piece of evidence that led to Hernandez-Hernandez’s arrest was a fingerprint found on the wooden box the suspects had stolen.

The 28-year-old was arrested by Colleyville police on September 19, just two days before the robbery occurred. He had been stopped for a defective brake light and was cited for multiple offenses, including no driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance. He also had possession of drug paraphernalia.

Dallas police were able to use the fingerprints from his earlier arrest to track Hernandez-Hernandez to his apartment in Hurst.

The Venezuelan Gang Connection

After his arrest, Hernandez-Hernandez informed authorities that the other men involved were members of a notorious Venezuelan criminal street gang. And that he had been paid $150 for his role in the robbery.

Tren de Aragua has become a target of Texas Governor Greg Abbott in recent weeks, who recently designated the gang as a foreign terrorist organization.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement confirmed that the suspects are from Venezuela.

Court records show all four suspects are in the country illegally. They are being held at the Dallas County Jail on an immigration hold.

After his arrest, Hernandez-Hernandez informed authorities that the other men involved were
