Now it will easier for you to grocery shop and pick up your prescriptions at the same place. Walgreens and Kroger and have announced that their partnership is expanding to more stores.

Back in October, the pair first released the news that they would be “collaborating on an exploratory pilot” program to bring in Kroger products and produce, to Walgreens stores.

"This exciting collaboration aligns with Kroger's vision of serving America through food inspiration and uplift," said Rodney McMullen, Kroger's chairman and CEO. "This concept brings together the best of two great brands to rethink convenience and redefine the way America shops for food."

The pilot seems to be succeeding, because now it’s growing! On December 4th, the companies published a press release saying they are incorporating two more initiatives that relate to the exploratory pilot.

The first initiative is called Kroger Express. This will be tested in 13 Walgreens test stores in Northern Kentucky, near Kroger's Cincinnati headquarters. Kroger Express will offer dairy, meat, produce, frozen and meal solutions, along with a variety of other meal options.

“...We are excited to enter the next phase of the pilot," said Robert Clark, Kroger's senior vice president of merchandising in a press release. "The Kroger Express concept creates easy access to our most popular Our Brands products through a fill-in grocery shopping experience for Walgreens customers…”

The second new initiative is the launch of a new product called Home Chef Express Meal Kits. These kits will only be sold at Walgreens through the Kroger brand, and will launch in 65 stores throughout the coming year.

According the press release, Kroger and Walgreens say this partnership is to create a one-stop shopping experience where customers can access products from both brands and order groceries.

There is no timeline on when this program could become national. But if these pilot programs go well, chances are you’ll buying your prescriptions, makeup, health supplies, and groceries all at Walgreens.
