The crash occurred around noon Friday on Highway 70 in Carroll County, involving a school bus, a Chevrolet Trailblazer, and a dump truck operated by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

According to Travis Plotzer of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, early findings suggest the dump truck did not directly contribute to the collision, though investigators are still piecing together exactly how events unfolded.

Officials confirmed that 25 students and five adults were aboard the bus at the time. The group was traveling from Kenwood Middle School in Clarksville to Jackson, Tennessee, for a field trip, according to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System.

Casualties and Emergency Response

Authorities confirmed that two students died in the crash. At least seven other individuals were airlifted to hospitals across Tennessee, though the severity of their injuries was not immediately disclosed.

Four patients were transported to Monroe Carell Jr. Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt, where they were reported to be in stable condition Friday.

Meanwhile, 19 others were taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Carroll County. Hospital officials said all were evaluated and released, though it remains unclear how many sustained injuries.
