Stranger shoots San Antonio man, 43, through door

A 43-year-old man remains hospitalized after a stranger shot him multiple times through his front door early Sunday morning in San Antonio. Officers responded to the violent attack just before 4 a.m. in the city's Northwest Side. The unidentified gunman fled the scene immediately after the shooting and remains at large.

Violent Confrontation On Ingram Road

The late-night emergency unfolded in the 6100 block of Ingram Road. A quiet neighborhood transformed into an active crime scene within minutes. The victim was inside his home when an unknown individual approached the exterior of the property.

According to investigators, the suspect knocked on the front entrance. The individual then began loudly demanding immediate entry into the residence. The homeowner did not know the visitor and chose to protect his household.

The 43-year-old resident refused to open the locked door. He explicitly told the stranger that he could not enter the property. The suspect refused to leave the area and continued his aggressive demands.

The resident denied the shooter entry multiple times during the tense encounter. Suddenly, the verbal dispute escalated into deadly violence outside the home. The suspect pulled out a firearm and targeted the closed wooden structure.

The attacker fired multiple rounds directly through the front door material. Several bullets successfully penetrated the barrier and struck the unarmed resident inside. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body before the gunfire ceased.

San Antonio Police Launch Gunman Hunt

San Antonio Police Department officers rushed to the Northwest Side address. Emergency medical technicians also arrived quickly to provide critical trauma care. First responders located the bleeding victim inside the bloodstained entryway.

Medical teams stabilized the injured man at the suburban scene. They quickly transported him to a local hospital for emergency surgery. Authorities have not released his current medical status or the severity of his wounds.

Detectives searched the surrounding neighborhood for the dangerous suspect. Patrol vehicles blocked off sections of Ingram Road to preserve physical evidence. K-9 units and police supervisors combed the immediate perimeter for escape routes.

The shooter managed to escape the residential area before police arrived. Officials confirmed that investigators found no initial trace of the fleeing suspect. The San Antonio Police Department noted that "the shooter allegedly began shooting" immediately after the final verbal refusal.

Detectives are currently reviewing local security camera footage from neighboring homes. They hope to identify the vehicle or pedestrian path used during the escape. No arrests have been made in connection with the morning assault.

Investigators Collect Critical Ballistic Evidence

Crime scene investigators spent several hours collecting evidence at the Ingram Road home. Technicians photographed the bullet holes riddling the front entrance. They mapped the trajectory of each round to determine the weapon type.

Officers recovered multiple spent shell casings outside the front porch. These ballistic items will undergo laboratory testing to find matching criminal profiles. Forensics experts are also checking the entryway for latent fingerprints or DNA.

The police department compiled a list of verified facts regarding the ongoing investigation:

  • The incident occurred exactly at 3:56 a.m. on Sunday morning.

  • The victim is a male resident aged 43 years old.

  • The suspect remains completely unidentified with no public description.

  • Multiple gunshots penetrated the front door of the property.

Neighbors reported hearing loud cracks echoing through the complex during the night. Many residents expressed deep concern over the brazen nature of the attack. Home invasions and random door shootings remain relatively rare in this sector.

Community Safety Protocols Following Residential Attacks

Local safety advocates urge residents to exercise extreme caution during late-night disruptions. Security experts recommend never opening the door for unverified individuals. Homeowners should utilize secondary locks and reinforced security plates to prevent forced entries.

Installing smart doorbells provides an important layer of visual protection for families. These digital devices allow residents to speak with visitors without exposing themselves. Keeping outdoor lighting illuminated throughout the night also deters potential criminals.

The San Antonio Police Department continues to request assistance from the public. Anyone with information about the Ingram Road shooting should contact local authorities. Tipsters can remain completely anonymous when submitting vital operational leads.

The motive behind the targeted shooting remains entirely unknown to investigators. Police have not clarified if the stranger picked the residence at random. The case stays open as a high-priority aggravated assault investigation in Bexar County.
