AR-15 Rihanna Home Attack: Armed Suspect Fires Shots at Singer’s Beverly Hills Residence

AR-15 Rihanna Home Attack

Authorities are investigating a frightening incident now widely described as the AR-15 Rihanna home attack, after a Florida woman allegedly opened fire on the Beverly Hills-area residence of global pop icon Rihanna.

Law enforcement officials say multiple rounds were fired Sunday afternoon toward the singer’s mansion, with at least one bullet piercing a wall of the property.

Police confirmed that the suspect has been arrested and remains in custody.

Gunfire Erupts Outside Celebrity Home

According to investigators, Ivanna Ortiz, a 35-year-old woman from Orlando, Florida, allegedly fired several shots using an AR-15 rifle toward the property located in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood.

The shooting was reported around 1:21 p.m. Sunday, prompting a swift response from the Los Angeles Police Department.

A law enforcement source told the Los Angeles Times that the pop star was home at the time the gunfire erupted.

Authorities have not identified a motive for the attack.

Ortiz is currently being held on $10.2 million bail.

Suspect Allegedly Fired From Vehicle

Police say the suspect fired multiple rounds from inside a vehicle parked across the street from the gated property.

According to Jonathan de Vera, an LAPD spokesperson, the attack did not result in any injuries.

However, the potential danger was clear.

Dispatch audio from the incident indicated at least 10 shots were fired from a vehicle stationed near the property’s gate.

The vehicle — described as a white Tesla — then sped south on Coldwater Canyon Drive, triggering a citywide search.

Helicopter Chase Leads to Arrest

As officers tracked the fleeing vehicle, police broadcast a detailed description of the suspect over radio communications.

Authorities noted that the driver had braided hair, wore a cream-colored blouse, and was driving a vehicle with noticeable dirt along its lower panels.

An LAPD helicopter soon located the car and followed it to a shopping center parking lot in Sherman Oaks.

Officers arrested Ortiz there roughly 30 minutes after the initial 911 call, according to police radio records.

“When they pulled the suspect over and took her into custody, they searched the vehicle and located an assault rifle and seven casings,” said Armen Arias, another LAPD spokesperson.

Investigators also discovered bullet holes in the gate of the property and in an RV parked in the driveway, he said.

Suspect’s Online Posts Targeted Rihanna

Authorities are reviewing Ortiz’s social media activity as part of the investigation.

Public records show she frequently posted videos on Facebook in which she rapped, danced and called out celebrities.

In many of the videos she appeared alone performing for the camera.

On Feb. 23, Ortiz posted a message directly tagging Rihanna.

“Say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I’m not at,” the post read.

Investigators have not confirmed whether that message is connected to the alleged attack.

Suspect’s Criminal History

Records reviewed by The Times show Ortiz has had several encounters with law enforcement in her home state of Florida.

Her past legal history includes:

  • A bankruptcy case in 2013

  • An arrest for careless driving in 2021

  • A 2023 arrest on suspicion of domestic violence and battery

Ortiz previously worked as a licensed speech pathologist and had no known personal connection to Rihanna or the singer’s partner, rapper A$AP Rocky.

Family Was Inside the Home

The pop star reportedly lives in the colonial-style mansion with A$AP Rocky and their three children.

The couple share sons RZA Athelston Mayers, born in May 2022, and Riot Rose Mayers, born in August 2023.

They also recently welcomed a daughter named Rocki Mayers a little more than five months ago.

Authorities have not confirmed how many family members were inside the home during the shooting.

A Troubling Echo of Past Security Breaches

The incident is not the first time Rihanna’s property has been targeted.

In 2018, a man identified as Eduardo Leon broke into the singer’s Hollywood Hills home and remained inside for roughly 12 hours.

Leon later pleaded no contest to stalking charges in a case prosecuted by then–Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey.

Authorities said he climbed a fence and entered the residence while the singer was away. The following day, Rihanna’s assistant discovered him inside the house.

Investigation Continues

For now, the AR-15 Rihanna home attack remains under investigation as authorities attempt to determine why the suspect allegedly targeted the singer’s residence.

The gunfire left visible scars on the property but no physical injuries — a narrow escape that investigators say could easily have ended far differently.

In a city accustomed to celebrity spectacle, Sunday’s incident was a stark reminder that fame can sometimes draw danger like lightning to a tall tower.
