On Tuesday, Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents arrested more than 400 migrants at the United States Southern border in Texas. Officials took the migrants into custody following their attempts to unlawfully enter America by sneaking across the border.
What Happened?
CBP agents discovered the multiple attempts to enter the United States during routine border patrols. Two large groups compromised what turned out to be 430 illegal immigrants. Although agents discovered the migrants within minutes, making all of the arrests took hours.
These latest arrests come as border patrol agents are faced with more and more trouble at the Southern border. A spokesperson for CBP provided more detailed information during remarks to the press:
“In the last 30 days, the U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector is averaging 570 apprehensions a day, with 90 percent of those being in the El Paso Metropolitan Area. These numbers continue to stretch the resources available to the U.S. Border Patrol to deal with this influx and the challenges that come with it.”
