Pacific Gas & Electric, deployed around 4,000 crew members to help with the storm restoration effort. Local personnel and contractors are joined by crews from Southern California, Oregon Wyoming, and even as far away as Canada.
The Poweroutage.us app that “tracks, records, and aggregates power outages across the United States” shows a breakdown of power companies and counties experiencing a loss of power in the beleaguered state.
State of Emergency
Gov. Gavin Newsom has issued a statewide state of emergency last week. And he is asking the Biden administration to declare a federal emergency as soon as possible.
Speaking at a news conference Sunday, Newsom said his office is in “active communication with the White House to get the full support of the federal government in preparation for this week’s storms.”
Newsom believes conditions will worsen within the next 48 hours.
“We expect to see the worst of it still in front of us,” he said. “We’re anticipating very intense weather coming in tomorrow and Tuesday morning.”
