Earlier today, Turning Point USA communications director Candace Owens delivered remarks during the House Judiciary hearing.

Owens spoke about claims of "white nationalism" and how she believes Democrats are weaponizing these claims for political gains.

Reviewing Owens' Statements on White Nationalism

Owens commenced her remarks by noting the manner in which Democrats are initiating talks of white nationalism.

In her own words:

"We’re hearing terms like 'white nationalism' sent around today because what they want to say is that brown people want to be scared. This seems to be the narrative that we hear every four years ahead of a presidential election."

The communications director for Turning Point USA then stated that Democrats have essentially weaponized talks of white nationalism in order to instill fear and garner votes.

"The hearing today is not about white nationalism or hate crimes; it’s about fear-mongering, power, and control. The goal here is to scare blacks, Hispanics, gays, and Muslims, helping [Democrats] censor dissenting opinions … helping them regain control. White supremacy, racism, white nationalism, words that once held real meaning, have now become nothing more than election strategies."

Finally, Owens spoke about black conservatives in America:

"We hear over and over again about black conservatives. [They] have the audacity to think for themselves and become educated about our history and the myth of things, like the southern switch and the southern strategy, which never happened."

Weaponization of Racism for Political Purposes

Owens statements ring true of many points which conservatives have touched upon. A fairly notable portion of the right-wing maintains that Democrats use accusations of racism in order to get votes.

Of course, this is something which Democrats deny. Those who lean towards the left end of the political aisle claim that they are fighting for justice and equality. They also allege to stand for minorities and individuals who they deem as oppressed and underprivileged.

However, many on the right don't see it this way. As a matter of fact, conservatives have stated that Democrats' policies actually harm the people who they claim to want to help. This has not stopped the left-wing from pushing for various reforms which would require extreme government intervention and control.
