A suspect charged in the fatal Dallas shooting of a Houston-area real estate agent has been released on bond. The case stems from an April 5 shooting outside a downtown Dallas bar that left 28-year-old Ashlee Long dead, and another man injured.

Dallas Shooting Victim from the Houston Area

Ashlee Long, a real estate agent from the Richmond-Rosenberg area southwest of Houston, was visiting Dallas with friends when the tragic incident occurred.

 According to police, the group had just left a downtown bar shortly after 2 a.m. when the situation escalated.

Surveillance footage captured a brief encounter between Long’s companion, 36-year-old William Kistler, and a passing Mercedes-Benz on Main Street. Dallas police said Kistler “reached out and brushed his hand along the passenger side of the passing Mercedes.” The car’s passenger—later identified as Kendrick Finch, 34—allegedly exited the vehicle with a gun and opened fire.

Both Long and Kistler were shot. Long later died from her injuries at the hospital.

“She was a glowing spirit, a loving friend, and a devoted daughter,” read an online obituary. “She had big dreams and was engaged to be married.”

Murder Suspect Released on Bond

Finch turned himself in to Dallas police on April 18, after Long’s family used social media to raise awareness about her death. He was later charged with murder and booked into Dallas County Jail.

On May 13, Finch posted $500,000 bond and was released. His legal team had previously petitioned for a bond reduction, which a judge denied. Finch has a prior criminal record that includes drug and burglary charges.

Fox 4 News reports that the investigation is ongoing, and authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and witness accounts.

Companion Also Facing Charges

Kistler, the man with Long during the incident, is also facing legal trouble. He is currently being held in the Collin County Jail on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon. Court records also show prior charges, including burglary of a habitation and an accident involving damage.
