Furthermore, Democrats seem to believe that Sanders’ rallying against income inequality is hypocritical since he is a millionaire and earned a notable amount of proceeds from writing a book.
Sanders has responded to the backlash which he is facing from his own party and furthermore spoken out about the money which he earned from book writing:
“If anyone thinks I should apologize for writing a bestselling book, I’m sorry, I’m not going to do it.”
The Relationship Between Bernie Sanders and the Democrat Party
Bernie Sanders has an interesting relationship with the Democrat Party. The 2020 presidential election marks Sanders’ second attempt at running for office. When Sanders’ previously ran for the presidency in 2016, Democrats essentially handed the nomination to Hillary Clinton. This occurred via superdelegates and purposeful insider work against Sanders.
Some Americans have questioned whether or not Democrats truly want Sanders to run for office. After all, it does appear as though the Democrat Party always takes major issues with Sanders when he runs for the presidency. The Democratic-socialist also recently butted heads with ThinkProgress, a liberal think tank. Apparently, Sanders didn’t take well to ThinkProgress’ criticism of his high earnings status.
