Over the past two years, Americans have gotten a front-row look at the significance of who sits in governor's mansions across the United States.

Republican governors have primarily taken very different leadership approaches than their Democratic counterparts; the results couldn't be more noticeable. Likewise, the strong contrast is impacting Americans' lifestyle choices.

As rising amounts of people exit blue states and resettle to red states, there are multiple gubernatorial elections underway. In both Georgia and Texas, the momentum appears to favor GOP candidates.

The same can also be expressed about the state of Florida. In fact, there is no greater evidence of this than various polls regarding incumbent Republican Governor Ron DeSantis versus the various Democrats competing to take his position.

Reviewing the Florida 2022 gubernatorial race

At this time, Nikki Fried, Charlie Crist, and Annette Taddeo are candidates in the Democratic primary election. While each of these candidates wishes to face Governor DeSantis in the general gubernatorial election, only one can do so.

Thus far, Crist leads the pack amongst Democrats with 54% support. Florida Democrat voters' second choice to face DeSantis is Fried at 28%, followed by Taddeo at 7%.

Meanwhile, a survey conducted by St. Pete Polls shows DeSantis comfortably leading every single Democrat. DeSantis enjoys a 5.8% lead over Crist; meanwhile, the Florida governor also maintains an 8.8% advantage over Fried.

More crushing letdowns for Florida Democrats

While Florida Democrats trail DeSantis in hypothesized general election matchups, additional hardships confront their party. 

In South Florida, Democrats are having significant issues with finding candidates to put on the congressional ballots. This is especially applicable to the 26th and 27th districts of the Sunshine State.

In 2021, Florida Democrats also lost the voter registration advantage they enjoyed over Republicans. Under DeSantis' leadership, Florida has seen massive numbers of people moving into the state.

As more new residents register to participate in Florida elections, GOP voters have gone up. At this time, the Florida Republican Party currently enjoys an almost 43,000 voter registration lead over Democrats.

Ultimately, Florida is a top destination state for people looking to escape the policies of Democrat governors. Florida Democrats consequently will struggle to make the case to voters (many of whom fled blue states) to elect a Democrat into the Florida governor's mansion.

Just earlier this month, betting aggregators listed DeSantis' likelihood of winning a second term in the Florida governor's mansion at 83.3%.
