Search for Gabby

Gabby and Laundrie took an ill-fated cross-country trip which she documented on Instagram and her YouTube channel.

On Aug. 28, 2021, Laundrie bludgeoned and strangled Petito to death. Her body was found after a weeks-long search at a Wyoming preserve on Sept. 18.

Laundrie returned to his parent’s home in North Port, Florida alone in Petito’s van. And he refused to explain to her parents where she was. Along with his parents, he stonewalled any attempts to help find Gabby.

The drama of her disappearance in the backdrop of social media captivated the nation. Just before the young woman’s body was found Laundrie disappeared. And a lengthy manhunt for him began.

Weeks later his body was found. He killed himself and left a self-serving confession.
