In exciting news for DC fans, the upcoming Superman: Legacy film has added a new member to its cast. Nathan Fillion, known for his roles in James Gunn's films, will portray the iconic Green Lantern. Alongside Fillion, Edi Gathegi and Isabela Merced have also been cast as Mister Terrific and Hawkgirl, respectively. 

As the DC Universe expands, this star-studded cast promises to bring beloved characters to life on the big screen. Let's delve into the details of this exciting development.

Green Lantern, Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific join Superman: Legacy Cast

Nathan Fillion joins the cast of James Gunn's Superman: Legacy as Green Lantern, adding his charm and talent to the DC Universe. Fillion will be portraying the character of Guy Gardner, known for his "hulking mass of masculinity" and a unique blend of likability and obnoxiousness. With Fillion's previous experience in playing a similar role as Captain Hammer in Dr. Horrible, he is a perfect fit for the character. Vanity Fair confirms that Fillion will don the signature red bowl haircut associated with Guy Gardner.

Joining Fillion in Superman: Legacy are David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. This talented ensemble promises to bring the beloved DC characters to life on the silver screen.

Edi Gathegi, recognized for his roles in Twilight and X-Men: First Class, will portray Michael Holt, also known as Mister Terrific. Holt, a brilliant inventor and member of the Justice Society of America, is set to have an intriguing rivalry with Batman. Which is one of the hints dropped about future storylines within the DC Universe.

Isabela Merced, known for her role in Sicario: Day of the Soldado, takes on the mantle of Hawkgirl, a fierce warrior wielding swords, spears, and maces.

Revamping the DC Universe

With Superman: Legacy, DC Studios aims to reboot and revitalize its cinematic universe. 

James Gunn, acclaimed for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy, has been entrusted with setting the tone for this new chapter. Gunn, alongside co-DC Studios CEO Peter Safran, ensures that the DC Universe will not be a mere clone of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Their vision promises a fresh and distinctive approach that will captivate audiences.

Despite challenges such as the writers' strike, Superman: Legacy has entered pre-production. Gunn, who initially planned to write the film, made the decision to also direct.

 This project serves as the starting point for Gunn and Safran's extensive decade-long plan, which includes both movies and TV appearances. The DCU's future looks bright, with projects like The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and others in the pipeline.

Fans can anticipate an engaging and thrilling cinematic experience when Superman: Legacy hits theaters on July 11, 2025.
